How to be Successful Online

Many of us have spent a great deal of time and a small fortune trying to find the right internet based business for us. We’ve talked to successful online entrepreneurs and got excited and bought into the kit. Two weeks later we were looking for something new that we felt we could handle. And this was our story.

Fortunately, being successful online is no longer some huge secret that you have to spend hundred or thousands of dollars to find out. There is no magic formula, there is only effort and a business plan. You can learn how to be an internet marketer and be happy while doing it through a number of online resources. There are online educational facilities that offer courses in online marketing. There are eBooks, articles, and websites devoted to helping more people become successful online than ever before. With the resources that you now have available to you, there is no reason why you can’t put your own business plan together.

Putting a business plan together and actually following it are two very different ideas. I know how easy it is to be motivated one day and completely unmotivated the next. It is easy to let one week or two weeks or three months slip by without really working on your business. By then you are so frustrated with yourself that starting over again seems overwhelming. Whether you jump back in after three months or you start right from the very first day, working on your business is done in baby steps. Every day you do one or two things that bring you closer to success. At first it might feel like you are spinning your wheels but after about eight weeks things will slowly start to change. Baby steps turn into bigger steps. Bigger steps eventually turn into business returns.

In order to help you stay organized in the beginning stages, set up your office as an office. Even if you are using a corner of your bedroom as an office, avoid common areas like the kitchen table. Schedule a time every day when you will devote an hour to your business. Explain to the kids that the hour you spend in your office with the door closed is an hour that they are not allowed to interrupt unless 911 needs to be called. Treat your own business as a business. If you treat it like a hobby or a past time chances are so will everyone else. You are not setting yourself up for success if you don’t consider your business to be a real business.

During your hour devise a plan to start your business off right. Decide how much money you are going to spend on each aspect of your business and how much time you are going to devote to each aspect of your business. In other words, get organized and stay organized.

Force yourself to finish off that hour. Even if you spend half of it staring out the window, eventually you will find that being productive is more enticing than wasting an hour of your day. Once you begin to develop the discipline to start your daily baby steps, you will be ready to move toward bigger steps.
